I am a native of St. Louis, Missouri. I graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 2002 with a B.S. in Secondary Education. I taught for 2 years at middle schools in the St. Louis area before moving to Athens, Georgia. I currently teach 7th grade Language Arts at a middle school in a suburb of Atlanta. It's hard to believe that this is my 6th year in the profession. The time goes by so quickly sometimes. I am currently working on my Master's Degree program at the University of Georgia. Eventually I would like to pursue a position as a Library Media Specialist for an elementary, middle, or high school.
Work Experience:
I have experience working in all levels of public education. I began working at an Elementary school and a Preschool while still an undergraduate student. I successfully completed my student teaching as a 10th grade English teacher and spent the summer teaching 9th grade English to summer school students. My first year of teaching was as a 7th grade Literature teacher. The next year I accepted a job as a Title I Reading Specialist serving 6th and 7th grade students. After a move to Georgia, I taught 7th grade Language Arts and Social Studies in a Title I school. I have been teaching in my current position as a 7th grade Language Arts Teacher for the past 3 years. I have also served as Team Leader for the past 2 years.
